The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia has an administrative supervisory role over the Magistrate Court. In criminal cases, the Magistrate Court issues and records arrest warrants, affidavits, and search warrants. Each Magistrate in West Virginia is selected through a non-partisan election and serves a four-year term.
